Enter the house of John Lobb, a sanctuary for the true gentleman – a universe whose unique design may be measured against man’s most exacting tastes. Fluid lines, impeccable proportions flawless balance – these elements define John Lobb, boot maker in London since 1866 and in Paris since 1902. John Lobb ready-to-wear continues the now legendary tradition of elegance, comfort and durability that is the heritage of bespoke the house’s original metier.

On October 8th 2009, John Lobb, the fine British boot maker, celebrates the opening of its first store in the region and eighteenth store worldwide, soon to be followed by Taipei (October) and Shanghai (December).

Designed by famous architect Rena Dumas, the store sets within the Dubai Mall. Made of light oak combined with contemporary material, the store allows for a full display of the shoe collection alongside leather accessories in a modern setting of comfort and care.

The design of the Dubai Mall store mirrors the concept of those in London, Paris, New York, Moscow, Tokyo and other capital cities around the world. The radiant yellow creates a refined, personal and masculine atmosphere synonymous with the world of John Lobb.

As from its beginnings, the brand has been associated with its founder and the craft of boot making he plied in his time. Since 1866, the genius of John Lobb has lain in the fashioning and creation of boots.  Nowadays, John Lobb shoes – bespoke made in Paris, France and ready-to-wear made in Northampton, England – come into being through a series of skilled operations that require both dexterity and deft mastery for a total of 190 steps. John Lobb oxfords, derbies, and loafers are all descendants of a single lineage that begins with the boot.

Today, more than ever, they are renowned for their combined qualities of comfort, durability and elegance. There would be no John Lobb without the finest raw materials – notably full grain leathers and exotic skins – and the craftsman’s know-how from the last maker to the pattern cutter, the closer, the tree maker or the polisher to name a few.

John Lobb’s signature ready-to-wear collections benefit from a wealth of detail, technical finishing and aesthetic style. Innovative designs as well as classic styles touched with a hint of modernity serve to reinforce a brand image unique the world over. This creates a bridge with bespoke which is the core of the company’s strategy and the very essence of luxury.

Lastly, the company introduced a complete offering of new and iconic styles fashioned from the most exquisite crocodile skins. Alongside its world class shoe collection, John Lobb also offers small leather goods and belts entirely hand crafted which, combined with the shoes, feature a strong and coherent collection with state-of-the-art quality.

Part of Hermès group since 1976, the company is now led by President Guillaume de Seynes and CEO Renaud Paul-Dauphin.
