Ferguson Modular, a major supplier and manufacturer of offshore accommodation and engineering modules for the energy industry around the world, has appointed Bjarte Andreassen as business development manager for Norway, as part of a continuing global growth strategy.

Mr Andreassen joins the company, part of the international Ferguson Group, from Smith International AS, and has several years experience in business development within the oil and gas industry. Based at Ferguson’s Norwegian division in Stavanger, Norway, Mr Andreassen will focus on promoting Ferguson Modular to offshore customers in the region.

Gary Wilson, Director – Business Development, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Bjarte to Ferguson Modular. Norway is a key location for our international growth strategy and Bjarte will have primary responsibility for further developing our existing rental business in the country, with a particular focus on our engineering and freezer/chiller products.

“Through increasing our presence in oil and gas locations around the world we are even more available to our clients and can further develop new and existing relationships in these important regions. We have a reputation for excellent customer service and the flexibility which we offer our clients and Bjarte’s appointment will reinforce this.”

Mr Andreassen said: “I am excited about joining Ferguson Modular and promoting the rental of our engineering and freezer modules in Norway. There are fantastic opportunities out there for us and I plan to capitalise on these through both my knowledge of the market and through the contacts I have built up over the years.”

In addition to its accommodation and engineering modules fleet, Ferguson Group is investing £25million in its first accommodation support vessel (ASV). It is currently being outfitted in Scotland and it is anticipated the vessel will be available for projects in Q3 2010.

The new ASV division is seen as a logical extension to the flexible accommodation solutions offered by Ferguson Modular, which also has a range of accommodation complexes and work space units available for rental. The company’s products are the best in the marketplace and include the highest quality DNV 2.7-1 certified modules in the world. The company plans to gradually build up a fleet of similar ASV’s suitable for energy industry operations in any global location.

The Ferguson Group employs more than 150 people worldwide through its divisions serving the offshore container rental and accommodation modules markets. The group, based at Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, has operations in all major global oil and gas locations to ensure the best service for its customers.
