ENOC, the Dubai Government-owned Oil and Gas Company announced today that the number of applications for oil and gas jobs received from fresh graduates and career-oriented UAE nationals has doubled compared to last year.  This announcement comes post its successful participation at Careers UAE 2010, the leading national recruitment exhibition in the UAE.

This is part of the group’s commitment to empower Emirati, youth to become the leaders of tomorrow. ENOC is currently in the process of assessing all job applicants received to select candidates for available positions across the company and its 30 subsidiaries.

Saif Al Falasi, Group General Manager, ENOC, said that participating annually in the biggest national career fair in Dubai provided ENOC an excellent venue to attract UAE talents: “ENOC is fully committed to the Emiratisation initiative of the UAE Government and strongly believes that investing in our graduates and professionals will help build strong foundations for our country’s future. We believe in the next generation, which currently makes up the largest demographic in the UAE, and believe that it is our responsibility to provide them with opportunities that enhance their skills and become future leaders of tomorrow.”

ENOC has surpassed the government’s Emiratisation target with almost 80 percent of its Emirati workforce in leadership roles, and hires a large number of fresh graduates which comprise 13 percent of the total Emirati workforce.

The group has a Graduate Development Programme, open to all UAE nationals with a Bachelor’s and Higher-Degree diplomas which grooms Emirati fresh graduates to take up leadership roles within the organisation through carefully selected training programmes, on-site training and periodic evaluations.

Rachael Handley, Learning and Development Manager – ENOC, said that. “Our graduate development programme is designed to develop the participant basic skills, provide them with world class training programmes, and expose them to different areas of the business so that they can lead ENOC through future challenges. Since the programme started in 2008, we have had more than 20 UAE nationals assigned to managerial positions across different departments and subsidiaries; currently the managing editor of our internal magazine, Insights, is a fresh graduate that was hired less than a year ago.  ”

ENOC plans to visit different universities in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to hire UAE nationals for more than 100 job posts for the year 2010.
