ALBAWABA - "Russian missile attack on Zaporizhzhia claimed one life. A 47-year-old man died," Ukranian's Zaporizhzhia governor Ivan Fedorov posted on Telegram.
The governor said that a Russian missile attack led to the killing of one man and the injury of 26 others. The airstrike targeted the city of Zaporizhzhia, southern Ukraine on Thursday.
Ivan Fedorov also said that a baby was among the 26 injured in the Russian attack.
"Residential buildings... were damaged by a strike. The blast wave broke out windows and damaged a roof," the governor added on his social media channel.
Nonetheless, Ukraine's state emergency service shared footage of a destroyed building and a damaged firetruck saying they were a result of the Russian airstrike.
In a statement, the services said: "The attack left one person dead and wounded 25 people, including a two-month-old baby and four rescuers."
On the other hand, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky also decried the attack carried out by Russia on Zaporizhzhia and said: "During the repeated shelling, our rescuers were injured, who were just eliminating the consequences. All relevant services are working on the scene. They are doing everything to help people as much as possible."
He added: "Russia's daily "terror" against Ukraine deserves ever-increasing pressure on the "terrorist." More sanctions against Russia are needed, more air defense to protect our cities and communities, and weapons for our soldiers on the front lines. Supporting Ukraine is what saves lives, and what cannot wait."
