oneworld, the leading global airline alliance which brings together ten of the world's biggest and best airlines, this month celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Founding oneworld member, British Airways - the UK’s flagship carrier which operates 56 weekly services from the GCC to London Heathrow - is marking the anniversary with a new 46-foot long livery on the fuselage of its aircraft.
The new livery took off for the first time on a British Airways Boeing 747 bound for Tokyo earlier this week. Up to 40 aircraft flying around the world, all belonging to members of the alliance, will feature the exciting new design.
Following an executive meeting between ten member airlines to mark the anniversary and discuss plans to maintain oneworld’s commitment to providing world-class service and value, Willie Walsh, British Airways chief executive, said: "As a founding member of oneworld, British Airways has benefited from 10 successful years as part of the world's premiere airline alliance.
“Our customers have access to world-class in-flight products, more airport lounges, an unrivalled global network and connections to hundreds more destinations.
“Our commitment to oneworld and its focus on quality rather than quantity will increase the strength of our alliance and deepen our determination to innovate and improve our products and services now and in the future.”
John McCulloch, oneworld managing partner, said: “The results from oneworld’s first decade makes abundantly clear the growing value the alliance has created for all its key stakeholders.
”As we enter our second decade, the alliance’s strategy remains the same - focusing on the quality rather than quantity of our member airlines and on adding value for our customers and shareholders.”
oneworld alliance members are also offering a 10 per cent cut off all alliance fares for 10 weeks, as well as a new circle Atlantic fare and a series of initiatives to make booking flights on all of its member airlines easier than ever before.
