Opennet MEA, the authorized distributor for Red Hat and Zimbra in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), has revamped its management for the region with the appointment of Andre Van Rensburg as General Manager and Jacques van der Merwe as its new Training Sales Manager. The new appointments are in line with the company’s plans to step up its channel development strategy following its distribution agreement with Zimbra in the last quarter of 2009.
Van Rensburg brings over 20 years of sales and business development experience to the company, with over 10 years of regional roles in the MEA region while Van der Merwe brings his extensive experience in running training companies to extend Opennet’s existing training and certification facilities to a wider demographic.
“Opennet will continue to work towards offering partners true enablement,” said van Rensburg. “We are looking to strengthen our reputation as a Value Added Distributor in the region by introducing new partner loyalty programs for both Red Hat and Zimbra product lines.”
Van Rensburg has served in senior regional positions in large multinational companies including Belkin, HP and Symantec. Prior to joining Opennet, Van Rensburg worked as a consultant with various distributors in the MEA region where he sourced new products and worked with partners, concluding in distribution rights. He has been a significant contributor to advances in business opportunities and marketing strategy with leading retail channel partners, and worked collaboratively with them to ensure they are managed and driven to achieve their Channel Agreement targets.
Van Rensburg is joined by Jacques van der Merwe as Opennet’s new Training Sales Manager. Van der Merwe’s priority is to heighten awareness of Opennet’s extensive training and certification courses to a wider demographic.
“As the authorized and fully qualified Red Hat training partner in the region, our eminently qualified trainers can add more value to the growing number of enterprises deploying open source solutions in the workplace today,” said van der Merwe. “We have already launched a series of vertical training courses focusing on popular applications like virtualization and cloud computing.”
Van der Merwe has served in various managerial roles with a rich background in sales especially in training management. His expertise in translating organization’s objectives into training department objectives significantly contributed to the development of his former companies.
Prior to his appointment as Sales Manager, he was the Training Manager of RPC Data in South Africa. Accomplishments during his time at RPC Data included the vote for January 2006’s Best African Oracle Training Center by Oracle African Operations in Egypt.
