Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV), a global software innovator delivering context-aware mediation and messaging solutions, today announced that Alfa, the Lebanese mobile operator managed by Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) since February 2009, has selected Openwave Integra, a next generation service mediation and policy management solution designed to allow Alfa to effectively manage, monitor and monetize mobile traffic. Alfa was using Openwave® Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) and has recently upgraded to Integra.
“As we upgrade our level of services and look for ways to leverage the latest technologies, Openwave MAG has provided us with a smooth migration path to a highly advanced solution like Integra,” said Assad Abousleiman, Chief Technology Officer, Alfa.
“We believe that Alfa’s selection of Integra underscores a growing need for operators to deploy more advanced service mediation solutions that enable them to offer more customized service plans that are based on data usage rather than flat rate plans,” said John Giere, senior vice president, products and marketing, Openwave. “We are pleased to be able to deepen our relationship with Alfa to help them with this significant upgrade and look forward to providing them with excellent products to help their bottom line.”
Openwave Integra provides network operators an evolutionary roadmap with innovative services and benefits including:
• The reduction of TCO through a single point of policy control and management for mobile data services.
• Scaling capabilities to support 3G and 4G service deployments.
• Cost efficient evolutionary roadmaps from existing WAP gateways to next-generation data architecture.
• Seamless backward compatibility with WAP infrastructure.
• Supports highly differentiated services across a number of service protocols (HTTP, HTML, RTSP/RTP/RDT).
