Optoma Launches World’s First Palm-Size Projector in the Middle East at GITEX!
Optoma brings the much awaited world’s smallest projector, the Pico, to Gitex 2008 bringing a new meaning to portable projectors
Optoma, a leading global vendor of award-winning digital projection and display devices, today announced the Middle East launch of ‘The Pico Projector’, the world’s smallest projector. The Optoma ‘Pico’ enables large screen viewing from personal media players, mobile phones, PDA’s, cameras and gaming devices. Visitors to the Optoma stand (E3-40) can connect their own devices with the Optoma ‘Pico’, to see it in action.
The Optoma ‘Pico’ offers an impressive feature set; weighing 115 grams, a similar size to many mobile phones, 20,000 hours lamp life, an integrated speaker and battery life of up to 2 hours. It is the ultimate in portability and is smaller & lighter than any other projector presently on the market.
The Optoma ‘Pico’ enables all users to share images and videos from their media devices with a diagonal image size of up to 60” inches – as much as 100 times the size of the source device screen. The pocket size, portable ‘Pico’ is based on the advanced Digital Light Processing (DLP™) chipset, providing the latest DLP™ technology and LED illumination. The Optoma ‘Pico’ will guarantee clear, bright, high contrast images to enjoy what is being displayed.
“GITEX Technology Week is a strategic platform to launch Optoma’s latest, innovative solutions and showcase them to our customers and partners in the region,” comments Adam Dent, Territory Manager, Optoma Middle East & Africa. “We are very excited at the fact that Optoma is introducing the world’s smallest projector & other exciting new projector solutions at one of the world’s biggest IT events.”
Optoma is also launching new, head turning high definition projectors and ultra-portable solutions within an interactive, bigger & brighter stand. Visitors at the show will experience ‘hands-on’ Optoma’s projector experience – exemplified by the new EP1080 offering 3600 lumens of true 1080p high definition brilliance.
The new EX525ST stands out from the crowd and shows just how effective a short throw projector can be, while the EP782 will deliver a demonstration of Optoma’s new digital signage solution on a 3 metre wide screen. The HD65 will show just how cost effective a projector can be at delivering a high definition home cinema solution.
Since entering the Middle East in 2006, Optoma continues to establish itself as one of the fastest growing regional players achieving over 5% total market share in Q2 of this year. Markets across the region grew by just over 55% in the first half of 2008 compared with the first half in 2007; at the same time Optoma’s sales grew by 125%. Optoma has since climbed from 6th place DLP™ vendor in 2007 to 3rd place in the first half of 2008*.
Optoma will continue its dedication to the local market as it seeks to expand its local operation with dedicated in-country staff, and by establishing new websites (www.optoma.ae and www.picoprojector.ae), while providing a wide range of projectors to businesses and consumers in key markets across the region.
