The BurJuman International Millinery Exhibition, an exclusive gathering of some of the top milliners from around the world, has begun at BurJuman as race enthusiasts gear up for the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horserace. Running until March 27, the International Millinery Exhibition features some of the finest hats, headpieces, and accessories for race goers and is being organized for the ninth year in a row by BurJuman, Dubai’s fashion hotspot.
Globally renowned and celebrated milliners in this year’s gathering include Valerie Corona, Philip Wright, Marilena Romeo, Louise Macdonald, Louise Harrison, Christiane Edmondson, and Catherine Povey. While over 500 stunning hats and headpieces are on display and sale, the event is also a one-of-a-kind opportunity for race goers to re-style and customise their existing headgear and make a fashion statement at the World Cup. A major attraction of this unique event is that no two hats are identical and race goers are assured that each headpiece is a signature creation.
Sabina Khandwani, BurJuman’s Head of PR and Marketing said, “We are delighted to be once again hosting this event on the sidelines of the Dubai World Cup which is a home-grown event and one of the most prestigious horse racing events in the world today. BurJuman has earned a reputation as the haven for luxury and top-notch fashion brands, and hosting the International Millinery Exhibition is part of our efforts in contributing to Dubai’s exclusive lifestyle.”
“Like every year, we have invited some of the best known milliners who have created hats and accessories for celebrities and race goers to the renowned Ascot and Melbourne Cup. This is a rare opportunity for BurJuman visitors to get hold of signature hand-made pieces of exceptional quality, pieces that are only fit for an occasion as the Dubai World Cup,” she added.
A new addition to the exhibition this year is the Style Consultancy, a style lounge created in partnership with globally renowned fashion magazine Grazia that will be held from March 18th to March 20th. During the three days, two top stylists will offer complimentary race-wear tips and advice from 1 pm – 8 pm. Shoppers will also get make-up tips from Giorgio Armani Cosmetics, and hair styling tips from Braun. Shoppers can opt for appointments through Grazia or receive the service as walk-ins.
One of the new exhibitors this year is Catherine Povey, a Welsh milliner, who secured a place in the final of the prestigious millinery competition at Royal Ascot in 2009. Race-goers can see her collection and of the other famous milliners at the area opposite Saks Fifth Avenue, Level 1, from 10am to 10pm until March 27th.
