Ahmed Qorei (Abu Ala), the Palestinian Legislative Council's (PLC) speaker was taken to a Jerusalem hospital for a heart problem, one of his close aides told AFP.
The 65-year-old man was hospitalized in Makassed where he underwent an angioplasty, the source said. The seriousness of his condition could not be immediately assessed.
Qorei became a representative for Jerusalem and speaker in 1996.
He headed the Palestinian delegation which negotiated the 1993 Oslo accords and susequent economic and interim agreements.
He was minister of economy and trade, then minister for industry in the first Palestinian Authority cabinets from 1994 until 1996. (Albawaba.com)
