Armed Palestinian attacked on Tuesday evening an Israeli army post in Jericho, said Palestinian security sources, who added that the Israelis returned fire. In the mean time, an Israeli soldier was injured in a bomb blast in Gaza.
AFP reported that the Israeli soldier was slightly injured in a double explosion outside a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip where a deadly bomb blast the day before left two settlers dead, Israeli army said.
The army said it did not yet know what caused Tuesday's explosion near the Kfar Darom settlement, where the soldier was standing guard.
After the blasts, Israeli troops opened fire in the direction of a Palestinian-run area, and an exchange broke out, Palestinian witnesses were quoted by the agency as saying.
The security sources told Albawaba.com that Palestinian opened fire at Jewish settlers driving near Ofra Jewish settlement in Ramallah. No details on injuries were available about attacks in Jericho and Ofra.
Meanwhile, two Israeli soldiers were injured when Palestinian protestors hurled stones at them during clashes in the West Bank village of Houssan near Bethlehem, the sources said.
Earlier, an Israeli soldier died of injuries which he sustained in a crossfire late Monday when armed Palestinians attacked the Jewish settlement of Psgot near Ramallah.
A 19-year-old settler died after being shot in the head by Palestinian gunfire in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, hospital officials told AFP.
He was declared dead earlier, but a spokeswoman at the Soroka hospital in the southern desert town of Beer Sheva retracted the satement, to announce his death later.
The incident occurred close to the Jewish settlement of Kfar Darom, some 500 meters (yards) from where a roadside bomb Monday killed two Israeli settlers on a school bus and wounded nine others.
The man was driving in a convoy escorted by the army when he was wounded.
"A single shot was fired and it hit him in the head," a military source said, according to the agency.
