PCFC and DEWA organize WWD activities

The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) organized, in collaboration with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) a program teeming with awareness and cultural activities on the occasion of World Water Day (WWD) guided by the theme “water and culture”. Many students from Government and private schools including “Mohammed Bin Rashid School, Saeediya School, Creativity Model school, Aysha Bint Saad school and Al Wasl school took part in the event. Series of dramatic shows were presented, the prominent of which the one that presented by the UAE dramatis Abdullah Al Jafali and his troupe that deals with social, cultural and environmental aspects relating to rationalization.
The campaign was launched at Dubai Naturalization and Residence Administration Building where the participating students displayed guiding boards and gave out leaflets calling for preservation of water wealth and explaining methods for better use of water as to be preserved for next generations. The activity, which then moved to Dubai Customs Main Building, was concluded by a lecture titled “water and culture” delivered by Engineer Abdul Aziz Zakarya from DEWA. A large number of Customs officials and clients attended the presentation.
Also, the campaign was concluded by WWD inspired dramatic shows at the Child’s Theatre in Dubai Creek Garden, a lecture in collaboration with Dubai Municipality at Jebel Ali EHS training center presented by Hisham Bukhari and the same at Reef Mall in Deira where WWD campaign-related leaflets were given out.
Awatif Mohammed, Assistant Manager of Environment Education Unit at PCFC affirmed the importance of cooperation between all Government departments and organizations in demonstrating the individual role towards the community and consolidating efforts to upgrade the individual’s awareness standards in different societal aspects.
“Awareness is a vital responsibility vested upon audio-visual mass media through calling for preservation of water and rationalizing its consumption. Water rationalization is one of the important world challenges affecting all the community segments. As a matter of importance, all should have to be aware of this and each must act within the scope of his competence to meet such objective, which may secure and provide better water future for us and the next generations”, she said.
