The Department of Society and Government Relations, a sub-section of the Public Relations (PR) Department of the Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), is organizing a summer course for the girl children of PCFC employees, in association with the Department of Activity and Student Welfare of the Dubai Education Zone. The one-month course, which will be held from 9 am to 12 noon three days a week, will be held at the Secondary School in Safouh.
This year's course, titled 'Our Summer – Fun and Learn', will mark the sixth consecutive year the Girls' Academic Club of Dubai - part of the Department of Activity and Student Welfare - is organizing the summer course.
The summer course seeks to provide a healthy social environment for the participants to utilize their leisure time productively, and to inculcate positive characteristics and values in them. The course includes programmes aimed at developing their talent and skills, and to help them better appreciate the value of time as well as the importance of community service.
Speaking about the programme, Mariam Al Shanizi, Coordinator of the Department of Society and Government Relations, PCFC, said: "PCFC is committed to the welfare of its employees and their families and children. The summer course, which is designed exclusively for girls, enables participants to constructively utilize their leisure time, and provides them an opportunity to develop their special talents. Our cooperation with Dubai Educational Zone to organize this camp has encouraged our employees to register their daughters for this programme."
The summer course comprises various activities like taekwondo and swimming, in addition to various cultural and artistic activities, and allows participants to develop their skills in handicrafts, pottery, flower arrangements and table-setting. It also seeks to increase participants' social commitment as well as religious awareness, through various programmes involving recitation and memorization of the Holy Quran.
'Our Summer – Fun and Learn' is one among a host of social activities PCFC is organizing this summer for the benefit of the families and children of its employees. PCFC is one of the largest government departments in the UAE and has a high percentage of UAE National employees, serving as an effective relationship-builder between its employees and the society.
