In continuation of its efforts towards playing a positive and effective role in the local community, and as part of its commitment to supporting all segments of society, PepsiCo-Jordan – the winner of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence/Private Sector – sponsored a conference on employing qualified individuals with special needs in the job market. The conference, which was organized by the Rahaf Foundation and entitled, “I too can build my country”, was held on the 31st of January 2010 in the Al-Hussein Hall at the Greater Amman Municipality building.
PepsiCo-Jordan’s sponsorship of the conference took place through their participation in the job fair that was held as part of the conference’s activities with the participation of a number of non-governmental entities and private sector companies. PepsiCo offered individuals with special needs the opportunity to review different employment vacancies that correspond with their qualifications and the requirements of the local labor market through collecting applications and CV’s that are compliant with the company’s needs. The company also displayed its manufacturing and economic activities to those participating in the conference and gave a brief overview of its unique products.
Commenting on this participation, Mr. Sufian Salman, Director of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at PepsiCo-Jordan, said: “Our participation in this event is a continuation of our involvement in different issues that concern our society, and comes as part of our support to different activities, especially those related to aiding people with special needs. We aim through this sponsorship to better integrate all segments within society and contribute to increasing this specific segment’s confidence by investing in and harnessing their abilities towards supporting the Jordanian economic development process.” Mr. Salman added: “We thank the Rahaf Foundation for their humanitarian work that is focused on the challenges within our society, and we are pleased to be participating in this conference, which aims at activating the integration of people with special needs through marketing their qualifications and abilities towards appropriate vacancies.”
In turn, Ms. Khulood Al-Asmar from the Rahaf Foundation expressed her gratitude to PepsiCo-Jordan for contributing to the success of the conference, and she commended the different activities that the company undertook to help build a sound and supportive community that is founded on equal opportunities.
The conference received extensive media coverage from satellite channels, radio stations, and local and regional newspapers. It was also widely sponsored by a number of entities including Greater Amman Municipality, Shatha Satellite Channel, Vision Printing Services Center, ‘Bab il Khair’ Foundation, and ‘Farah Al Nas’ Radio Station.
The Rahaf Foundation is a non-governmental not-for-profit foundation, established on the 29th of April 2009, with the aim of supporting children and youth in society through training workshops, exhibitions and competitions. The Foundation also aims at integrating individuals with special needs in society academically, socially and professionally.
