ALBAWABA - Poland announced that Russia has violated its airspace by a huge number of drones, adding that the Polish army destroyed some drones, with the help of its NATO allies, Associated Press revealed, citing the Polish Prime Minister.

PM Donald Tusk posted online: "Last night the Polish airspace was violated by a huge number of Russian drones. Those drones that posed a direct threat were shot down."

The Polish army was on a red alert overnight due to what Warsaw described as "further massive airstrikes against targets located in Ukraine."

It is worth noting that last August, a Russian drone crashed and exploded in a cornfield in eastern Poland, AP continued.

On the other hand, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz outlined that "more than ten objects" entered the country's airspace, stressing that this is considered a serious risk to Poland's security.

Furthermore, Chopin Airport in Warsaw announced a temporary closure and the halt of flights for a few hours.

A video was shared on social media reportedly showing a drone on fire after it crashed in the city of Zamosc, near the border with Ukraine.
