PORT AND TERMINAL OPERATOR RECOGNISED IN SERVICE SECTOR CATEGORY

Deputy Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today awarded the prestigious Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) for 2008 to DP World’s UAE Region in the Service Sector category, for its intensive efforts to recruit and develop national talent at its flagship Jebel Ali Terminals.

 Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DP World, UAE Region, and Mohammed Ali Ahmed, Director of Strategic Planning, Human Resources and Business Support, DP World, UAE Region, accepted the award at a ceremony held today at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.  The ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice- President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) established the award to encourage Dubai-based establishments to invest in Emiratisation.  In its citation, DHDA commended DP World, UAE Region for its “commitment to Emiratisation and its results-oriented human development programme.”  This marks the second consecutive year that the organisation has recognized DP World, UAE Region for its efforts to develop human capital.

UAE nationals hold key management positions across DP World, in the fields of general administration, finance, marketing, customer services, engineering, marine services and project management, among others. The company runs development programmes to suit a range new and prospective employees, from high school graduates to diploma and degree holders.
