Abu Dhabi’s Port Zayed has posted an overall increase of 47 percent in tonnage handled over the last two years, according to a top port official, quoted by Gulf News.
The paper said that the port has made an increase of 12 percent in the tonnage handled for full year 1999 over the previous year while the port clocked a 13 percent rise in the number of ships handled in 1999 (compared to 1998), Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Seaport Authority told the daily – Albawaba.com
