The Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) celebrates its 15th anniversary this academic year 2005-2006, and to commemorate many years filled with achievement and triumph the university's Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya Bint El-Hassan held a celebratory luncheon event on the university campus to honor both the university's faculty and administration for all their hard work.
During the event's proceedings, Princess Sumaya expressed great feelings of pride at seeing the university prosper and advance over the years, for she stated in an emphatic speech made before the attendees that it gave her great delight to see PSUT evolve to become a leader of educational programs relevant to Information Technology and Communication fields in Jordan.
Commenting further on the feelings that this occasion brings to her, Princess Sumaya said "Over the past years, we have been focused on ensuring that PSUT advances in its strive for excellence. Today I am happy to say that we have achieved our goals and more, PSUT provides quality educational programs relevant to Information Technology and Communication fields, the university's administration fully understands the important role that these disciplines play in the advancement of our national economy.
This is why we make it our mission to provide for our students the resources they need to both expand their horizons and excel in their future careers. Our top notch Technology Labs and our experienced faculty provide our students with the skills they need to really stand out within the Jordanian community, and I am proud to say that our graduates are making notable strides in the technology field"
Princess Sumaya added "Our areas of expertise are not only limited to the educational track, for we at PSUT also sharpen our students' entrepreneurial skills. We have achieved this goal by organizing competitions and initiatives in cooperation with leading learning institutions from around the globe, and with experts from the corporate world of Information Technology. The fruits of our labors were only reaped a few days ago and it gives me great pride to see two of our student teams compete amongst finalists and win in the Princess Sumaya National Entrepreneurship Competition PSNEC, and on this occasion I would like to thank all who took part in the organization of this event, for without their efforts the PSNEC wouldn’t have been a success, and our students wouldn’t have made this achievement"
It is important to note that PSUT was first established in the year 1991 as a University college with only one specialization, and today over 1300 students have graduated from it with degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. In the coming few years PSUT will also see its first class of graduates in Computer Engineering, and its newly offered Communications Engineering, MIS, and Computer Graphics and Animation majors and the sky is the limit as to where this learning institution wants to go... could it be cyber space!
To put a perfect end to a perfect event Princess Sumaya handed out awards and certificates of recognition for all university employees who have spent 5, 10, or 15 years working at PSUT, for these awards were only a small token of the university's appreciation for their efforts, and a small means for the university's administration to thank those individuals for playing a pivotal role in the entity's journey of success.
