Project management is the “new route to the top” in the Middle East business world and project managers are now earning more than before the financial crisis, according to a leading industry expert.
“To put it simply, it’s never been a better time to be a project manager,” said J. LeRoy Ward, an industry veteran with 34 years’ project and programme management experience.
“All over the world, the Middle East included, organisations are making substantial investment in the development of their project managers and providing them with career paths that lead all the way to the executive ranks,” he added.
According to the latest Project Management Institute’s salary survey of nearly 35,000 project managers, more than half reported an increase in their compensation with the global median salary reaching $90,260.
Ward, Executive Vice President of ESI International, will be giving a free breakfast seminar on Tuesday 18 May 2010, Holiday Inn Downtown, Kuwait City, on how organisations are transforming project managers into business leaders.
“This new trend represents a shift in the way organisations perceive their project managers and, more importantly, the way they perceive their project managers’ ultimate potential,” Mr. Ward said.
In addition, Ward will discuss his eight project management competencies required to get to the top. “From strength in leadership to communication and business skills to having a strategic vision, I will be providing a virtual blueprint on how to position for success in a business environment where project managers are more valuable and respected than ever,” he added.
Ward is responsible for ESI’s worldwide product offerings and international partnerships. He has authored numerous articles and publications including Project Management Terms: A Working Glossary. A dynamic and popular speaker, he presents at industry conferences worldwide. He is certified by PMI as a Project Management Professional and a Programme Management Professional, one of the first to earn the designation.
