Amana Contracting & Steel Buildings, a leader in the industrial construction sector , has been awarded a contract from Public Warehousing Corporation (PWC),  to design and build three state of the art logistics facilities at Mina Abdullah, in Kuwait.
The facilities cover an area of approximately 60,000 square meters and will be  constructed on a fast track basis in just 180 days. The complex when completed will have three buildings with a wide span of 75 meters equipped with large bay areas to facilitate ease of movement of very large container trucks and smooth transfer of cargo.  All covered areas in this complex will be temperature controlled by a state of the art air conditioning system built specifically for the complex.
Explaining the challenges in building such a facility, Mr. Mutasem Kayyali, General Manager of the Kuwait branch of Amana Contracting & Steel Buildings said, “Building such a facility is quite a complicated process. It encompasses a high level of design complexity as we have to build a super flat concrete slab as a base for the structure. A variance of even a centimeter tilt in the base of the building is catastrophic for a facility of this size,  which normally is designed to have racking systems up to 10 meters in height.”

The project will also include five office areas of three floors each, in addition to the three logistics centers. The combined area of the offices is 11,000 square meters.
PWC had first awarded Amana a contract to design-build its cold storage facilities in Doha, due to the success of that project PWC then awarded Amana the contract for its retail distribution center in Dubai. This is the third project that Amana will be constructing for PWC.

“ Amana is now a preferred subcontractor for PWC, and has established a reputation for delivering projects on time and within budget.” Said Riad Bsaibes  COO of Amana Steel Buildings Contracting Co LLC

“ The fact that a blue chip company like PWC has repeatedly chosen Amana to be the construction partner for three of its specialized construction projects is testimony to our leadership position in this niche segment.” He added
