Qatar has released four Bahraini detainees in Doha following a visit by Qarat’s Emir Sheikh Hamad al-Thani to Manama Friday, reported the Bahrain Tribune newspaper Saturday.
Two of the Bahrainis, Yahya Mohammed Al Ansari and Khalil Abdulrasool Bujeeri, arrived Friday night in Manama, a sour told the paper.
The other two, Ali Mohammed Al Jamaa and Abdulaziz Mubarak Buqais, will arrive Saturday, he added.
The four had been detained in Qatar for about one month, but no reason was given for their arrest, the source added.
Meanwhile, reports said that al-Thani played down the territorial conflict with Bahrain.
"The two countries have resolved their border conflict. We will wait for the ruling of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, then we will start to strengthen our relations more and more," Sheikh Hamad said.
At the end of last June, the court wound up a five-week public hearing into the dispute, which almost led to war in 1986.
The case focuses on Doha's claims to the Bahraini-held Hawar Islands and Fasht al-Dibel rocks, potentially rich in oil and gas deposits, as well as Manama's claim to the Zubara strip on Qatar's west coast.
Bahrain has warned it will not cede an inch of its land.
"My visit to Manama was intended to congratulate Sheikh Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifa on the success of the referendum on a national charter," the Qatari emir was quoted as telling reporters – Albawaba.com
