A magnitude-4.8 earthquake rocked southern Iran early Saturday, destroying four empty schools and damaging several others, the official IRNA news agency reported. No deaths were reported.

The earthquake struck at 9:09 a.m. [local time] near Kazeroun, a town 500 miles south of Tehran.

It destroyed four area schools that have been empty since an earthquake damage last month made the structures unsafe for students. Six other schools were damaged, officials said. (Albawaba.com)
