Rain Delays Roland Garros Start

Persistent drizzle delayed the start of play on Monday at the French Open.

Play had been scheduled to start with doubles matches from 0900 GMT but organizers were forced to move the day's four men's fourth-round matches to the top of the schedule.

Even then, the two opening encounters - the Center Court clash between French sixth seed Cedric Pioline and Russian 12th seed Marat Safin and the match opposing Sweden's third seed Magnus Norman against Andrei Medvedev of Ukraine on the Suzanne Lenglen Court, scheduled for 1100 GMT, were delayed -- (AFP)
