RAK Ceramics, the world's largest ceramic manufacturer has announced that it has recently beefed up its portfolio of environmentally friendly products with the strategic addition of its energy saving façade system to its "RAKSLIM," brand, in a move aimed to help address the UAE's increasing demand for sustainable building and construction solutions. RAK Ceramics pointed out that a key indicator of the growing preference towards building sustainability is the significant increase in the growth rate of UAE-based firms involved in green building.
RAK Ceramics also announced that it will hold a conference on November 24, 2009 at the Atlantis, the Palm Dubai; to discuss the energy-saving qualities of RAK Ceramics' new façade system. RAK Ceramics' ventilated facades have been developed to reduce the amount of heat and sound that buildings absorb, which make them perfect solutions for the hot weather conditions in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East. US-based Architect Richard P. Goldberg, AIA, CSI, NCARB, an authority on energy saving facades, will be the main speaker at the conference.
Abdallah Massaad, Assistant CEO, RAK Ceramics said: "The long-term strategy of the UAE is based primarily on the concept of sustainable development. This has accordingly influenced the increase in demand for sustainable building solutions as developers and contractors move to satisfy the stringent green building standards being imposed by the government. RAK Ceramics will act proactively to support this initiative and contribute towards achieving the UAE's mission of reducing its carbon footprint through the use of a superior range of green-certified products and techniques."
