Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone is zooming past the competition by being at the forefront of events in the UAE on the technology front – from the much-awaited Gitex Technology Week 2009 from October 18-22, to the exciting Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix Fan Zone from October 16 to November 1.

RAK FTZ is one of the major sponsors of Gitex Technology Week. Speaking during the Annual Gitex Exhibitor's reception, Oussama El Omari, CEO of RAK FTZ, emphasised the importance of maximising Gitex 2009 as one of the most important events of the year and underlined the impact of technology in today's business environment.

“By simply being present in this year’s technology summit, we put ourselves in the most strategic arena every business aspires to be in. We witness history as it unfolds, we receive open access to the most effective technologies that not only keep us updated and well-equipped to adapt to these changes, but also make our businesses successful,” he said.

RAK FTZ prides itself in keeping up with the latest technological developments. It provides many technological value-added services, and maintains a state-of-the-art data centre. This includes pre-installed IP telephony through a partnership with Cisco, a security platform, and experienced IT related consulting services to ensure the smooth operation of client and partner businesses.

With the emphasis in today’s world on wireless technology, RAK FTZ has made it easy for clients to be mobile and do their business without interruption from any location. The comprehensive technology platform that the free zone provides has been a deciding point for most companies to register with RAK FTZ, and this can be seen in the increase in registrations year-on-year, especially for technology-based organisations.

In line with this, RAK FTZ is also at the forefront of another ground-breaking and historical event for the UAE: the first Formula 1 Grand Prix 2009 to be hosted by Abu Dhabi from October 16 to November 1. During this time, RAK FTZ will support the event and network with power players, with a kiosk at the Abu Dhabi Corniche.

“We are here to celebrate this outstanding achievement with the rest of the UAE. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is mark of progress for the country and we are proud to be part of this exciting international event,” El Omari shared.

The RAK FTZ participation is part of 'Yasalam', which means 'Wow' or 'Amazing' in Arabic, a thrilling programme of events and entertainment happening alongside the F1 Abu Dhabi. Prepared by Flash Entertainment, 'Yasalam' will feature concerts, exhibitions and other live events that will reach out the families, young people, students and visitors across the UAE.

RAK FTZ representatives will be present at the RAK FTZ booths in both events to provide information about the free zone and how to set up a business in the UAE through RAK FTZ. They will also promote the limited special offer, valid until the December 31, 2009, on RAK FTZ lease facilities that allow clients to use shared and networked desks or offices on a time-limited basis.
