An Arabic daily published an e-mail it said it had received from chief terror suspect Osama bin Laden lashing out at the Saudi Middle East peace initiative.
The London-based al-Quds al-Arabi said Thursday Bin Laden branded as a "betrayal" Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah's offer in the name of the Arab world to establish normal relations with Israel if it pulls out of all territory occupied in 1967.
"The initiative -- US-Zionist dressed up as Saudi -- by prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz is a plot and one aspect of the repeated betrayal of our causes which have marked the history of the region's leaders," bin Laden reportedly said.
Al-Quds al-Arabi, whose editor Abdul Bari Attwan met the Saudi dissident in Afghanistan before the September 11 attacks on the United States, has opposed the Saudi plan since it was first aired in February.
Al-Quds al-Arabi did not disclose the e-mail address of the sender or say what steps it took to authenticate the message headlined "Communique from Sheikh Osama bin Laden about prince Abdullah's initiative." (Albawaba.com)
