Report: Bush Leads with 926 Votes Including Overseas Absentee Ballots

Published November 18th, 2000 - 02:00 GMT

Texas Governor George W. Bush leads his rival Vice President Al Gore by a mere 926 votes after all overseas absentee ballots were counted, US media reported Saturday quoting the Associated Press.

Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris is due to release the official final count of overseas ballots around midday Saturday, although the state Supreme Court barred her from certifying the results and declaring a winner as she had planned.

The outcome in Florida is crucial because the state's 25 electoral votes would give either Democrat Al Gore or Republican George W. Bush more than the 270 needed to win the White House -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
