The United States has delayed trips through the narrow Suez Canal because of security fears, US News and World Report reported in its latest edition.
The weekly reported that some US Navy ships may be rerouted around the tip of Africa.
The report comes just weeks after a US Navy Destroyer, the USS Cole, was attacked while refueling in the Yemeni port of Aden. Seventeen US sailors were killed and dozens injured in the bombing.
US News also reported that the Blue Marlin, the Norwegian ship due to transport the damaged USS Cole home from Yemen, may be one of those sent on the longer, more difficult route – WASHINGTON (AFP)
