Representatives from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) are to visit Dubai between 9 and 15 March.
During the visit, Andy Cowe, ICSA’s President and Roger Dickinson, ICSA’s Chief Executive, will be holding meetings with Hawkamah, the Institute for Corporate Governance, Mudara Institute of Directors, the DIFC Centre of Excellence and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. These meetings will provide an opportunity to follow up on discussions held in Dubai last year and establish closer links between these organisations and the Institute. Mr Cowe and Mr Dickinson will also be checking progress on plans to deliver the ICSA’s qualifications in Dubai later this year. A reception will be held for ICSA Gulf Forum members at The Palace hotel on the evening of Thursday 12 March.
The ICSA is the qualifying body for company secretaries and a leading authority on corporate governance. Once qualified, by means of the ICSA’s International Qualifying Scheme, members become Chartered Secretaries and are trained to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, effective operations and administration. Many hold top positions as chairs and chief executives as well as company secretaries.
The Institute has a long-standing reputation for excellence in educational and professional standards. The visit coincides with a meeting of the ICSA’s Professional Standards Committee which is being held in Dubai for the first time. The Committee, which is made up of a peer group of members from Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Malaysia and the United Kingdom, work together to ensure that the high standards expected of an international qualification are maintained.
The ICSA is one of the leading global authorities on corporate governance. With 36,000 members worldwide the Institute is represented in over 70 countries including Dubai.
Roger Dickinson, ICSA’s Chief Executive comments: ‘We are very much looking forward to continuing our discussions from last year. In the current economic climate, the Chartered Secretary’s unique blend of knowledge and skills are highly valuable and will enhance opportunities both for the individual and businesses in Dubai.’
