The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, announces the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown. The property featuring 220 rooms is scheduled to open in early 2011. It is Rezidor's 4th Radisson Blu Hotel in the Emirate – the group already manages the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, the Radisson Blu Residence, Dubai Marina, and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City.
"Despite the slowdown, Dubai continues to have the highest RevPAR worldwide and is an interesting market for Rezidor – and one of our focus areas in the Middle East", says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. "We see a promising potential especially for business travellers, and the new hotel benefits from an excellent location near the main commercial areas." continues Ritter.
Dubai Downtown Dubai Downtown is the new hub of Dubai hosting top attractions including the Dubai Mall - the world's largest shopping, leisure and entertainment destination, the tallest tower in the world, the waterfall promenade and Souk Al Bahar.
The hotel also borders Business Bay, a mega project covering an area of 6 million square meters, which is designed to be the new centre of Dubai commerce. Key destinations including Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and Dubai International Financial Centre (the world's fastest growing international financial centre) are within a few minutes' drive from the hotel's site.
"The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown is a welcome addition to our group and we are delighted to partner with the Naisk Group on this property" says Elie Younes, Vice President Business Development, Middle East & Africa. "This asset complements our existing portfolio in Dubai and will strengthen our footprint in the market – making Radisson Blu the largest international upscale hotel brand operating in Dubai" continues Younes.
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown will be located on the upper floors of a mixed used building located at walking distance from Dubai Mall and 10 kilometres from the international airport. It comprises 198 contemporary rooms and 22 suites – all equipped with Radisson Blu signature services such as free high speed internet access. Guests will also benefit from an all day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant, a pub, 2 bars (including a rooftop pool bar), and a sophisticated Business Class Lounge. Meeting facilities will include 6 conference rooms, 2 board rooms, and a business centre – and for those combining business and leisure travel, the hotel will have a swimming pool and a gym/spa.
Some rooms will offer breathtaking views of the 828 metre Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower which was completed in early 2010. The tower is within walking distance – as well as Dubai Mall featuring 1,200 retail outlets, a 220-store Gold Souk, and more than 150 food and beverage outlets.
Rezidor currently operates 25 hotels (6,585 rooms) in the Middle East region with a further 16 (4,204 rooms) in the development pipeline. The group continues to look for additional opportunities in Dubai; "Our focus is now to serve the market with more Radisson Blu resorts on the Dubai beachfront, identify suitable opportunities and partners for our lifestyle brand Hotel Missoni, and complement this with the addition of new Park Inn by Radisson hotels to offer something fresh for the mid-market traveller" says Younes.
