Rowenta, a leading supplier of household and beauty products, has announced that it has successfully completed the first ever hair styling competition titled ‘It Could Be You’ and handed over prizes of AED 35,000 to the winners when the event was held recently on June 14th, 2007, at the Deira City Centre in Dubai.

The hairstyling duo of Krista Kennell and Steven Harvey beat more than 50 competitors to walk away as champions of the competition, which aims to promote the UAE as a styling, beauty and fashion hub of the region.

Using the newly launched range of Rowenta for Elite Model Look products, participants worked before a live audience and then presented their handiwork to a select panel of judges comprising renowned professionals from the industry. Being the first hair contest open to the general public, the organisers also gave away thousands of Dirhams worth of beauty and personal care products, and offered the audience a chance to receive a free on-the-spot hairstyling service from professionals renowned in the field.

"The event couldn’t have been more successful. I was amazed by the crowd and number of participants in the competition. I was particularly proud of the quality of results that were created using our products and elated to see everyone having a fantastic time on and off the stage”, said Thurayya Bahman, General Manager, Bahman Group UAE, the exclusive distributors of Rowenta products in the U.A.E.

The ecstatic winners, Krista Kennell and Steven Harvey, received the grand prize of AED 18,000, while Leyli Shadmanova, who participated as hairstylist cum-model working on her own hair, took the first runner-up spot and was awarded AED 10,000. Another stylist-model tandem, Christopher Naperi and Priya Jayanand, received AED 7,000 for winning second runner-up honours.

"The Rowenta 'It Could Be You' competition is very unique to the industry as the general public is given a chance to witness how great looking hair styling is achieved, which helps cultivate interest and boost awareness about this artistic profession. As the competition has shown, there is huge talent out there, putting the UAE in a very good position to promote itself as prime fashion and beauty destination in the region," said Zelda Du Toit, an ex-model who runs a Modelling and Grooming Institute in the UAE. Ms. Manal Bahman of Bahman group of companies, and Mr. Tony Habchy of Jacques Dessange were also members of the panel of judges.

Secure Computing launches industry's first self-serve Domain Health Check in Middle East
June 21, 2007
Secure Computing Corporation, a leading enterprise gateway security company, has recently announced the Middle East launch of Domain Health Check - a free web service that provides users with a behavior-based view of the messaging and web reputation of their domains. This is a first-of-its-kind service that provides users with a free report about the security of their domain as seen and correlated from thousands of points around the globe.

In today's ever-changing security landscape, where attacks routinely use compromised computers as hosts and mobile workforce computers can easily become infected outside the office, it is important for corporate IT departments to regularly monitor and track the behavior of systems within their networks. Users can access the Domain Health Check at http://www.securecomputing.com/domain_health_check.cfm.

Those who request a Domain Health Check from Secure Computing will receive a report that provides a snapshot of their domain's security reputation as it pertains to web and email traffic. Reputation scores are calculated based on behavior data captured in real-time by Secure Computing's TrustedSource(TM) reputation service. Like a credit score, a reputation score indicates whether a site is in good standing, or if it may have been compromised and is being used in nefarious ways. As part of the report, participants will receive remediation tips that serve as a starting point for further action.

“TrustedSource is the most extensive Internet reputation system in the market and enables all of our gateway security appliances to accurately block malware, spam and phishing attacks at more than half the Fortune 500 companies. With a growing number of companies across the Middle East realizing the importance of ensuring the security of their domains and networks, the Domain Health Check could prove invaluable as it provides vital information to anyone needing insight into the security of their websites and domains," said Sami Mulla, Director, Middle East, Secure Computing.

Domain Health Check is available via the Secure Computing home page. Visitors simply require a valid email address and domain in order to generate a report about the “health” of their domain. It offers an easy-to-read and understand report that provides web reputation and site categorization information; message reputation information including any malicious senders, suspected zombies, dormant email senders within the domain, and phishing incidents for the domain as observed by TrustedSource; summary and interpretation of results; and remediation suggestions including recommended next steps.
