Under the patronage of her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the Royal Automobile Museum inaugurated an exhibition for small cars that are manually made out of wires by children from across the Kingdom. The first of its kind initiative is supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE), The Hashemite University and MobileCom and is also held in cooperation with Jordan River Foundation.

“Making cars out of simple materials such as wires, crepe paper, coke bottles, bottle caps and other resources by children is something apparent in several poor districts in Jordan. Accordingly, the idea of holding this exhibition came to life to allow children who are less fortunate to show their creativity. To materialize the idea, we found ourselves visiting many remote areas in Jordan to encourage the children from different ages to present their cars in order to participate and compete in this exhibition,” Director of Royal Automobile Museum, Mr. Raja Gharghour said.

Ghargour also pointed out that they received almost 350 cars out of which 50 were selected to be displayed in the exhibition. The participating age categories were divided into three segments, the first included children who were under 10 years of age, the second included children with ages ranging between 11 and 14, while the third were above 15 years old.

From her side, MobileCom’s CEO Majd Shweikeh said: “We chose to support this unique exhibition because it encourages children to demonstrate their talents and real potential. MobileCom and Jordan Telecom Group are always keen on demonstrating a true sense of responsibility towards the local community by supporting meaningful activities”.

At the end of the exhibition, financial prizes will be offered to the best three cars from each category. Afterwards, the winning cars will be competing for the main trophy. The arbitrary committee will be composed of the Minister of Education Dr. Khaled Toukan, a representative from the Hashemite University, a representative from MobileCom and the director of the museum Mr. Raja Gharghour in addition to the possibility of having a royal presence among the jury.

It is worth mentioning that the exhibition is open for the public, and visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their best car for which the owner will be awarded. Furthermore, Fridays from 5:00pm till 7:00pm will host an expert who will be teaching children how to make small cars out of wires.
