Today Royal Philips Electronics and Al Faisaliah announced the sale of a multi million EURO healthcare solution to Specialized Medical Center (SMCH) Riyadh. The deal was agreed upon during the Arab Health Congress 2007 in Dubai and will consist of the latest cardiovascular X-ray flat panel solution ( Allura FD20), the latest Cardiac CT scanner (CT 64) and Philips’ web based IT PACS solution (iSite).

Hani Charani, CFO of SMCH, comments: “We are very satisfied with the support Al Faisaliah and Philips are offering us with equipment and services as well as the way we cooperate in developing our private hospital. For SMCH, this deal is another expression of our trust in our collaboration and – very important – the innovativeness of both Al Faisaliah and Philips Medical Systems.”

Philips Middle East Medical general manager Diederik Zeven comments: “We are very pleased about this multi modality deal and we thank SMCH for the trust they again put in us. Our long relationship and way of working with SMCH allowed us to better understand the evolving needs of healthcare in Saudi Arabia and propose adequate solutions.”

Specialized Medical Center Hospital (SMCH) is a privately owned in- and outpatient clinic with currently 275 beds and 100 clinics supporting the hospital and offering all modalities. SMCH has been a Philips customer since 2000 with CT, MRI, X-ray and ultrasound. SMCH also has established a modern lab and radiology centre. In 2007 SMCH will add a Cardiac Cath unit, Open heart Surgery, and volume CT Scan.

iSite was developed in San Francisco (USA) and currently is the fastest growing PACS system in the world with a pay per view basis and 99,9 % uptime guarantee. Besides the performance iSite is unique because it is web based. Hospitals do not need a lengthy and costly implementation

process anymore, but go live immediately and pay per image they store.

This is reducing IT costs substantially while offering world class speed and performance.
