Moroccans are eagerly awaiting news about the birth of a crown prince to King Mohammed VI, 39, and his wife Lalla Salma, 26.
Streets were being cleaned and decorated with lights in the capital Rabat, but the palace remained mute, news reports said. Some rumours claimed that a boy had already been born and was at a clinic in Paris.
The prince will be the first in line to the throne, followed by Mohammed's brother Moulay Rachid. Some royalty-watchers said he might be named Hassan after his grandfather, who died in 1999.
King Mohammed married red-haired engineer Salma Bennani a year ago. Morocco does not have a queen, and Salma has the title of princess.
There was no word on the issue in the Morrocan press. In the kingdom, newspapers do not write about the private life of members of the royal family. (Albawaba.com)
