The UK parliament's decision to abstain from military intervention in Syria shows the danger of military action, Russian President Vladimir Putin's top foreign policy adviser said on Friday, Reuters reported.
"People are beginning to understand how dangerous such scenarios are, especially when (the use of force) is not sanctioned," Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
Mr Ushakov also said he believed Thursday's vote by UK MPs reflected the majority opinion in Europe, not just the UK.
"Russia is actively working to avert a military scenario in Syria," Ushakov said.
As a veto-holding member of the U.N. Security Council and an ally of the Syrian regime, Russia has already blocked three resolutions meant to condemn Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
