ALBAWABA - Romania's Foreign Minister, Oana Toiu, revealed on Sunday that the Russian ambassador to Bucharest had been summoned after a Russian drone was spotted in the country's airspace, AFP reported.

According to sources, a Russian drone had entered the airspace of Romania amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, which began in February 2022.

Toiu told private TV channel Digi 24 that Russian ambassador Vladimir Lipaev would be summoned to the ministry on Sunday evening to "clearly communicate Romania's protest" against the drone incident.

In return, the Russian embassy in Romania explained that the drone intrusion was a Ukrainian 'provocation'. Lipayev mentioned Romania's accusation that Russia was responsible for the intrusion was "unfounded".

A statement by the Moscow embassy in Romania read, "All the facts lead one to believe that it was a deliberate provocation by the Kyiv regime."

On the other hand, last week, Poland also said that a large number of Russian drones had violated its airspace. Polish PM Donald Tusk posted online: "Last night the Polish airspace was violated by a huge number of Russian drones. Those drones that posed a direct threat were shot down."
