Shiite leader Moqtada al-Sadr has agreed to drop all his conditions in negotiations with the US-led occupation and abide by the guidance of the highest Shiite religious authority, a close aide said Wednesday.

"Moqtada Sadr is willing to agree to what the Marjaiya (the top Shiite spiritual leaders) ask for and to drop the conditions he had set for a mediation," Qais al-Khazaali told a press conference in the Iraqi city of Najaf, AFP reported.

Meanwhile, at least five Iraqis were killed and three injured in firefights between American forces and resistance fighters in Fallujah despite a declared 48-hour extension to a five-day-old truce, hospital sources told AFP. (Albawaba.com)
