Saudi Arabia has donated $350,000 to help the Palestinians build football stadiums in Jerusalem and Gaza City, the news agency SPA reported Saturday.
According to AFP, the contribution from the government minister for sport, Prince Sultan bin Fahd, will also help build a headquarters for the Palestinian Football Federation (PFF), which was admitted to world football's governing body FIFA in 1998.
The agency quoted Ahmad Afif, the president of PFF, as saying "this contribution came to help the Palestinians to establish two football stadiums, one in Gaza, and the other in Jerusalem," which will facilitate to the way for the local teams to gear up with their new promising sports world. In spite of Israeli's political reasons for curtailing the Palestinians' sporting activities by blocking their freedom of travel, their teams' performances over the last few years have proved that they can successfully challenge neighboring countries. Their surprising success in clinching third place in the 9th Pan Arab Games is a shinning example that comes immediately to mind - Albawaba.com
