Under the patronage of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, the Ministry of Higher Education in Saudi Arabia will organise an international exhibition for higher education from January 26–29, 2010, at the Riyadh International Exhibition Center. The event will feature a number of international higher education institutions and relevant organisations participating alongside Saudi universities, higher institutes, and academic quality, measurement and accreditation institutes, in addition to e- learning, distance education, and research and studies centers.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by H.E. Dr. Khaled Bin Mohammed al Angari, Minister of Higher Education, who pointed that this exhibition aims at unifying the efforts of KSA’s higher education organisations in capturing the benefits of international experiences and achieving effective joint cooperation with international universities and institutions. He said that this is happening at a time when the Kingdom has witnessed massive progress and expansion in establishing universities and sending thousands of students to study abroad under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, HRH the Crown Prince, and Second Deputy Premier.
Minister Al Angari added that the international exhibition for higher education represents a confirmation to the urgent desire for holding joint cooperation and partnership programs with internationally-renowned universities to carry on with the enhancement of higher education in the Kingdom, transfer of know-how and distinguished programs to the country, and activate scholarship programs while enabling Saudi students to choose the right and suitable education destination.
Dr. Al Angari reiterated that one of the main goals of this event is to accomplish full awareness and knowledge in all aspects of higher education and its organisations at world level, which will in turn contribute to keeping the Kingdom abreast with the rapid progress of this vital sector. The exhibition will open up opportunities for the Saudi society, its organisations and individuals, to learn more about the leading international experiences and create a positive communication channel between the Saudi educational entities and their international counterparts, Al Angari added.
As for the results expected from organising this event, he pointed that it comes within the context of his Ministry’s careful attention to promote the competence and capability of educational systems and methods, and to lead Saudi universities towards ambitious targets and achievements, and to facilitate the acquisition of international experiences and know–how by their faculty members. The event will also encourage Saudi higher education institutions to enter into scientific cooperation agreements with their international counterparts, and enables the private sector and students to interact with experienced universities, and allows them to become familiarised with their educational, scientific, and admission procedures, he added.
He pointed that there will be several concurrent meetings and discussions held alongside the exhibition, including a scholarship program students’ forum, a Cultural Attachés forum, as well as a number of discussion panels, seminars, workshops, and training courses.
Ending his statement, he expressed his great appreciation for the patronage granted to this event by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, and for the special care, attention, and encouragement given for every initiative that contributes to the progress of higher education and its institutions in serving the Kingdom’s development plans and fulfilling the needs of society.
