Saudi-led coalition aircraft struck Yemeni capital Sanaa’s international airport Saturday, after Yemeni authorities said the airport would reopen for delivery of humanitarian aid, witnesses told AFP.
Witnesses said two missiles struck the airport, which has been a frequent target of airstrikes by a Saudi-led coalition targeting Yemen’s Houthi opposition movement.
Airplanes as well as boats have delivered aid to Yemen, but the humanitarian crisis is growing, according to the UN. Over 2,000 Yemenis have died in the conflict so far, including over one hundred children.
The Saudi foreign minister announced Friday a five-day ceasefire in the airstrikes to begin May 12.
