Traditionally constituting the highest number of travellers in the region, the Saudis did not disappoint as they topped guest bookings this season at the newly opened Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates. Michael Henssler, General Manager, excitedly shared the information that the luxury hotel recorded impressive occupancy at the onset of summer.
“This is an excellent result for the hotel. The last three months have been busy for us, welcoming guests from all over the region, as well as from Europe. We are confident that we can sustain the momentum for the rest of summer and clearly position the hotel as the leading luxury resort destination in the region,” said Henssler.
GCC visitors led guest arrivals with Kuwaiti nationals closely behind the Saudis. American and British guests were also among the nationalities with the most number of guest arrivals.
“One of the factors contributing to this impressive occupancy rate is the GCC road show that the hotel recently embarked on. During the road show key cities in the region where visited with Kempinski showcasing its impressive portfolio of luxury hotels to leading tourism operators and key decision-makers whereby visiting Dammam and Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Another major event attracting regional visitors to Dubai is the 11-week Dubai Summer Surprises, the highly anticipated annual shopping and entertainment festival,” Henssler went on to say.
“Majority of the events during DSS 2006 are taking place in Mall of the Emirates, which welcomed more than two million guests in only the first two weeks of the festival. The mall is anticipating a total of 6 million guests at the end of DSS, which is certainly welcome news for us. We have prepared special packages including Summer Snow Promotion which gives our guests a chance to extend their vacation for an extra night for every two-night stay at the hotel, thus giving them more time for shopping, dining or simply relaxing at the ski resort and snow park,” Henssler added.
The outstanding results come on the heels of another hotel milestone – that of being included in Travel + Leisure’s “It List” of the coolest hotels around the world. The list appeared in the June issue of the prestigious travel publication, and featured fifteen of the world’s hip and high-end hotels. Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates was the only hotel from the Middle East to make it to the prominent list.
