The School of Creative Science’s (SCS) 4th annual charity bazaar concluded yesterday, raising a record AED one million to benefit Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) and Sharjah Old People’s Home. Children, students, parents and concerned citizens in the UAE attending the fair contributed to the funds raised in addition to the support of a host of sponsors including key patrons Sahara Centre and Dubai Sports City. Additional sponsors also included ABTEC Ltd., Red Marketing Communications, Emirates Marble, REMCO, Emirates Modern Printing House and Emirates Bank.
Furthermore, a record 2,500 visitors attended the three-day charity bazaar in Sharjah, which was held under the patronage of Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.
“We’re very impressed with the phenomenal funds we have raised. We’re also very pleased with the support we have received from local enterprises and the community to make this possible. Our commitment and perseverance has paid off – this year’s event has now raised approximately 200 times more than what we collected at our first event in 2003,” said Salah Bukhatir, Chairman of the School of Creative Science.
“We hope to make next year’s event bigger and better. The charity bazaar has become a tradition of the school as we feel it is our responsibility to help the community we work and live in. We sincerely hope we can make a difference and our contribution can help to provide necessary resources for the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services and Sharjah Old People’s Home.”
The three-day bazaar was hosted by SCS and featured activities and entertainment for children of all ages. In addition, visitors to the fair had the opportunity to choose from an array of products on sale, including handicrafts, household and gift items as well as items for children including toys and books.
Sheikha Jameela said of the achievement: “We thank the School of Creative Science for their commitment to making this event bigger every year and are honoured that their charity bazaar has run again in support of SCHS. What they have achieved is phenomenal and it gives us great pride to see an institution so dedicated to serving the community. They have set a good example and we hope other schools will see this as a benchmark for community service.”
“It is important that society feels a sense of responsibility for the disabled and needy. It is the role of schools to instil this sense of responsibility in young people. Our organisation, like others, relies on the support of the community in order to provide resources and equipment for those in need,” continued Sheikha Jameela.
Since 2003, SCS and its holding group, the Bukhatir Group, have engaged in regular humanitarian activities, including the annual charity bazaar, to raise funds for various humanitarian organisations in Sharjah.
