Scoring huge success throughout the year
Dubai Customs celebrates its distinguished employees
Under the Patronage of Mr. Yousif Al Sahlawi, Executive Director of the Legislations and Policies Division, Dubai Customs awarded its distinguished employees throughout the year in a glamorous honor-awarding ceremony on Wednesday morning, July 22nd, 2009 that took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Saleh, Director General of the Department of Finance in Dubai as well as a number of executive directors and managers at Dubai Customs.
The honoring ceremony comes as part of the Department's strategic plan of encouraging and supporting distinguished employees and teams who contribute to the constant improvement process developing performance and services offered through stimulating employees' initiative and encouraging them. The Department also aims to cultivate excellence culture among all employees which increases professional satisfaction and reinforces the ongoing development and enhancement procedures for both; performance and quality services granted to clients.
Mr. Yousif Al Sahlawi welcomed the distinguished employees who proved to be highly qualified and competent this year through the proposed and implemented projects and the programs which deserve much credit. Mr. Al Sahlawi confirmed:" Such programs and projects had great and positive outcomes that reflected on improving workflow at the Department and furthering its efforts. This has led to receiving a number of significant prizes regionally and internationally at Dubai Customs."
There were sixty-six honored employees this year who were among five major groups:
- Employees who received Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) prizes - in Dubai.
- Employees who received DGEP prizes- at Dubai Customs.
- Distinguished employees with regards to developing the Department's official website.
- Corporate Excellence team.
- Employees who won in the “Tanafos” program- at Dubai Customs.
Mr. Al Sahlawi pointed out a number of awards the Department received due to the conspicuous efforts made by those employees; for example, The Middle East Government and Business Organizations Global Competitiveness Excellence Award, Best Government Website for utilizing excellent techniques among the Arab countries and recently receiving first worldwide ISO10001 certificate of its kind in the customer service domain as well as other achievements and awards.
He also confirmed:" These achievements prove the policies credibility and reliability adopted by the Department as it aspires to create the perfect environment for fostering excellence and creativity in order to accomplish best results on every level."
Moreover, Al Sahlawi stressed the significance of human investment; the core to the development process: “Humans are the genuine capital to any organization. From this springboard, Dubai Customs has been keen on developing its human resources by providing employees with the most vital training courses throughout the year according to their field of specialty in order to increase their competency and develop abilities to the utmost extent of their professional power."
This has certainly led to achieving marvelous and distinctive accomplishments. It also saved a lot of efforts and money; for instance, employees have developed Mirsal2 system for Electronic Customs Clearance, established the Mobile Lab and facilitated the process of getting the ISO certificates. All these achievements were attained by the internal efforts of the Department's cadres and staffs without referring to any external party and outsourcing.
Al Sahlawi said:" This is the real achievement that we must keep carrying on, developing and pushing it forward for the massive impact it has influencing development at the Department in all aspects."
