Lawyer Majdi Al Amrousi has revealed that the leading role for the Egyptian classic, Zuqaq El Madaq, was withdrawn from Abdul Halim Hafez due to his ‘diva like’ behavior.
Amrousi, a close friend of the famous late Hafez, revealed to the Middle East News Agency that Hafez’s bad attitude is why the leading role was given to then theater actor Salah Qabeel.
The story begins when Hafez was insistent on replacing Qabeel with his longtime friend Hassan Youssef, after Qabeel was granted the costarring role opposite Hafez.
According to Amrousi, Hafez demanded that Youssef be cast and Qabeel be thrown, however, producer of the movie Ramsis Najib, known for his professionalism, refused to grant Hafez his wish.
Meanwhile, Imam, who was keen on rejoining Hafez with Youssef, went to Qabeel and relayed the singer’s wishes, explaining to him that it would be best to go with what Hafez wanted.
Qabeel, a sensitive man, decided to withdraw and made an appointment with producer Najib in order to cancel his already signed contract.
However, things did not go as planned.
Qabeel returned Najib’s 200 Egyptian pounds and ripped his contract.
Ramsis later informed Qabeel that he had a new contract to sign and this time it was for the leading role! – Albawaba.com.
