The number two of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Saudi Arabia-born Said Ali al-Shehri, was killed in a military operation in the country, declared Monday the Yemeni Ministry of Defense. In addition to this leader of Al Qaeda, six of his associates were also killed in the operation launched in the valley of Hadramout, the ministry said on its website 26sep.net .
No details have been made on the nature of the operation or on its date. "Al Arabiya" TV channel reported that the operation took place in eastern Yemen.
