A car bomb, driven by a suicide attacker, went off early Tuesday near a checkpoint leading to Baghdad's Green Zone, the second attack in two days on the entrance to this district, police said, according to the AP.
At least seven people died and 13 were injured in the explosion, including five Iraqi National Guardsmen, said Razzaq Hussein, an official at the capital's Yarmouk hospital.
On Monday, a suicide car bomber killed 13 people and injured at least 15 near the Harthiyah entrance on the western edge of zone.
A policemen on the scene said a car bomb had gone off near the spot of Monday's blast. The U.S. military confirmed that a car bomb had exploded near the checkpoint and said there were no American casualties.
Meanwhile, Al-Jazeera reported that the bodies of 20 Iraqi National Guard members were found northwest of Mosul. In a separate development, the US Army said two marines were killed in Al-Anbar Governorate, western Iraq.
