Arab women in the Gulf have proved their capability by undertaking national responsibilities alongside men, and are no longer confined to domestic duties, Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Wife of UAE President and Chairperson of the UAE Women's Federation, has said, according to Khaleej Times.

In an interview with the Egyptian Hawa magazine, Shaikha Fatima conveyed that women throughout the United Arab Emirates were acting in accordance with a call issued by the UAE President Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, asking them to fully participate in nation building activities.

"Today, working women in the UAE are just as competent as their male counterparts and have become active partners in the development of the country," the First Lady told the magazine.

She said that the extent of women's success could be assessed by their presence in many areas of human development as well as in institutions of higher learning.

Shaikha Fatima stated that the achievements made by UAE women would not have been possible without the support expressed by Shaikh Zayed to them in their efforts to achieve their legitimate aspirations of joining all realms of work in the UAE and participating in political affairs.

"Without the support of [UAE] President Shaikh Zayed and his brothers, the Rulers of the UAE, many of the great strides made by our women today would not have been possible," said Shaikha Fatima, adding that women across the country were proud and grateful for this support. (Albawaba.com)
