The UAE will be represented by a six-car team in the coming weekend’s Ha’il Rally, the opening round of the 2010 FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas which takes place from February 16-18, in Saudi Arabia.

Ahmed Bin Sougat, Jassim Al Baloushi, Raed Baker, Nabil Ahmad Ahmadi, Abdullah Hamad Al Heraiz, Abdul Haleem Bin Zayed, Yahya Al Helei, Khalid Al Kendi, Ali Hassan, Ali Dadi and Mattar Humaid Al Mansouri will contest the event with the support of HH Sheikh Majed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, son of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The teams are also receiving additional support from the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE whose President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “We’re very pleased to be sending a strong team to support this event, which is good not only for the sport in Saudi Arabia, but for rallying in the Middle East as a whole.

“Sheikh Majed, like his father, is a generous supporter of UAE sport,” Sulayem, who is also FIA Vice President, added.

The Ha’il Rally is a cross country rally for shorter events compared with longer distance events like the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge which make up the FIA International Cross Country Rally World Cup.

The rally is being held under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud Bin Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Ha’il, President of the Supreme Commission for Ha’il Development and the Head of the Supreme Commission of the Ha’il Rally.

The UAE drivers will be part of a 40 strong line-up of competitors coming from all across the Middle East.
