His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai paid a surprise visit to the world’s largest international property investment and development event, Cityscape Dubai 2006, on its final day at Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC).
Accompanied by HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, and His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed spent an hour touring the 55,000 square metre exhibition area on the final afternoon of the show, which is organised by IIR Middle East.
Earlier in the day, Rohan Marwaha, Cityscape Group Director, had announced that Cityscape Dubai 2006 had broken its previous attendance record for the first and second days, with 18,541 visitors passing through the turnstiles – up 40 per cent on last year.
Among the 500 exhibitors from 55 countries taking part in Cityscape Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed viewed stand displays by Dubai World Trade Centre, Al Sharq, City of Arabia, Mizin Arjan by Tatweer, Dubai World Central and Falcon City Of Wonders.
At the Nakheel stand, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the latest activities on The World, Dubai Waterfront, Jumeirah Park and International City developments. Later, at the stand of Sama Dubai, a division of Dubai Holdings, he viewed a model of the innovative, twisting Dubai Towers at The Lagoons.
“Sheikh Mohammed has been the driving force behind the development of modern Dubai, so we were honoured that he could visit Cityscape 2006 to meet our exhibitors and view how they are transforming his vision into reality,” said Rohan Marwaha. “The exhibition would not enjoy the scale, quality of exhibitors and international fame it now has, were it not for Sheikh Mohammed’s vision and support.”
