Sheikh Saud holds talks with Prime Minister of Cameroon

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, received Friday evening Ephraim Inoni, Prime Minister of Cameroon, and an accompanying delegation who called on him at the Al Dhait Palace here.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between Ras Al Khaimah and Cameroon and discussed ways to further bolster mutual cooperation. Sheikh Saud welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation, stressing the importance of this visit in enhancing the economic relations between Cameroon and Ras Al Khaimah.

“We see the visit by the Prime Minister as a very positive step towards furthering investment and trade ties with Cameroon. It will definitely lay the foundation for closer understanding of economic opportunities and sharing of information between the two sides,” Sheikh Saud said.

“Ras Al Khaimah has developed very active trade and business relations with many African countries in a wide spectrum of areas, creating new partnerships that has seen substantial investments and sharing of expertise. We hope that we will be able to take bilateral relations between Ras Al Khaimah and Cameroon to a new level through closer government- to- government interaction and more business linkages,” Sheikh Saud added.

Prime Minister, Ephraim Inoni presented an overview of his government’s efforts to modernise the economy and ongoing steps in upgrading the country’s infrastructure.  “Cameroon’s economy is a key player in the Central African sub- region and the country is blessed with natural resources including mineral deposits. The Government is making vigorous efforts to strengthen the economy by tapping the natural resources and by building an efficient port and rail infrastructure. These measures have opened up vast array of avenues for foreign investments and for forging new business partnerships that could be explored by Ras Al Khaimah based- firms,” he added.

The talks also focused on utilizing RAK’s technical expertise for major infrastructural and industrial projects in Cameroon. It was decided at the meeting that a team of experts from Ras Al Khaimah would soon visit Cameroon to explore investment opportunities.

Mohamed Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director and CEO of RAK Properties, Jihad Quzmar, Legal Advisor to the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, and senior officials of RAK Gas were present at the meeting.
